V8 Vegetable Juice, Low Sodium, 46-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)At the VA hospital, my dietician asked me to revise my diet. Most of the diet is no problem, but increasing vegetables can be a big problem. I need five to seven servings of vegetables each day. To meet all the "healthy" requirements, I have to eat too much. I have forced myself to eat it all and I end up feeling stuffed. Most days the best I can do is 4 servings.
I discussed this with my dietician and she said I could drink vegetables for some of my servings. V8 vegetable juice qualifies as a vegetable serving. Somehow its is like that commercial where Bill Cosby says "there is always room for Jell-O,".I can drink an eight ounce glass of V8 and not feel stuffed. A side benefit is that it tastes good.

V8 contains wonderful ingredients: calories 50; Sodium 140 mg; Potassium 820mg; Fiber 2g; Sugars 8g; Protein 2g. Percent daily value: Vitamin A 40%;Vitamin C, 120%; Calcium 2%; Iron, 2%; Vitamin C, 120%; Calcium 2%, iron, 2%. I try to purchase the low sodium bottle.
So, with V8, I increase my vegetables and eat healthy. I highly recommend V8 vegetable juice for daily consumption.

Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Organic Sprouted Grain Cereal, Almond, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)It really stinks that eating the healthiest foods costs the most but in my opinion, it's worth it. I love these cereals. The first case I bought from amazon was the original and I wound up eating it for breakfast, snacks, lunch, whenever, without milk or adding anything... I love the crunch and the taste. I actually ate the whole case in about 2 weeks and very little else... and it is amazing that I didn't gain weight, my bms were much better, and I had great energy and felt well- my body was craving it. Try that on Coco Puffs, Cornflakes, and even any of the other "healthy" cereals in the healthfood stores!
I actually make my own sprouted grain breads and crackers which I could easily break up to make this type of cereal- there is nothing in the world like it, but it takes 2 days of sprouting and a couple of hours to complete the food processing and spreading on the baking sheet process, and then 3-4 hours of low-heat baking. So when I don't have time to do this, a very close second are the Ezekiel products (their bread, english muffins, cereals, and pastas).
Anyone who makes health their top priority will eat very little of non-sprouted grain products (flour products). For those interested, Amazon sells a book called the Essene Gospel of Peace which contains writings found in the Vatican archives- in this little book, Jesus teaches his followers how to make bread, and it has nothing to do with taking the dry grain and grinding it up into flour and using yeast- he teaches them to soak the grain, let the sun bring it to life, grind it up alive, and then let the sun bake it. That makes the only truly living, healthful breads and cereals.
Yes, these products will feel and taste different than most are used to, but the more one eats this type of real food, the more the body starts remembering and then one begins to really enjoy the taste and textures because they equate to life and health. :)

Raisin Bran Cereal, 1.52-Ounce Single Serve Packs (Pack of 70) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My doctor ordered me to eat heart-healthy food, saying that raisin bran is one of the best for bulk count. He said it's a good idea to not only eat it for breakfast, but to also eat a small bowl before dinner, especially for those over the age of fifty who might tend towards constipation. It sure beats the "prunes" of my mother's day!
I have always liked raisin bran, and this packet of 70 individual boxes will last me a little over a month ... if I follow my doctor's advice.
I also enjoy the convenience of Amazon's new store for staple groceries. The only drawback I see is finding the extra storage space if I order everything to last a month.

(More customer reviews)Initially I ordered Mornin Glory Prune Extract to eat as a jam/spread, once my shipment arrived and I visited their website at[...] and downloaded their brochure on the health benefits of this product, I was pleasantly shocked! WOW! Did not know that prunes were so rich in fiber, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin K, and iron? It also reduces cholesterol and helps with arthritis. I'm very impressed. Have purchased multiple jars since and shared with family members.
Oh, and one more thing...the antioxidants in prunes work better on the skin than anti-wrinkle cremes! Beat that? :-)

Dr. Greene Children's Chewable Multivitamin/ Mineral Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a good healthy vitamin for my children (age 6 and 7) and I did find it in this brand. However the vitamin, itself is huge and my kids found it hard to chew. I tasted it myself and it was too tart and gritty as well as too much in one bite. I decided to cut it in half and only give 1/2 at a time, but I wondered if they were getting their daily allowances. They tolerated it but did not remind me if I forgot to give it to them.
I was a little dissappointed.
Might be ok for older kids

Navitas Naturals Organic Hemp Protein Powder, Kashmir Superfood, 16-Ounce Pouch Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I prefer this hemp powder over the Living Harvest brand. The Navitas hemp protein powder is a much finer grind, almost a powder, which makes it much easier to blend into drinks and smoothies. I also appreciate that it has a higher protein content: 50% rather than the 43% the Living Harvest brand boasts. It costs a little extra, but I think it's a much better product.

Alacer - Emergen-C Adult-Multivitamin Apricot-Mango, 30 packets Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Although priced 50% too high, this product is one of the best on the market. I purchased it and am pleased enough to include it in my daily menu. It can be sprinkled on and used in other foods and the combination is astounding. Fast acting and containing high nutritional content, this product is absorbed by the body quickly. All day benefits are experienced. Spouses, lovers, and significant others get ready: the libido will increase greatly too as the lack of energy decreases.
Three ounces of water offers the best taste. But remember, good nutrition will not taste good all the time but you can expect the good nutrition in this product to do the job it was manufactured to do without the product leaving the body unused as is experienced with most pills and capsules.
This product has no drawbacks. It is simply priced too high because those who do not know good nutrition will automatically assume that because the product has so many good things in it, it must be priced so high as to make it unaffordable. That way, consumers will buy the lessor quality product that contains minimal nutrition and miss out on experiencing the great benefits this great product has to offer.

Solaray - Children's Multi - Cherry, 120 chewable tablets Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My son, who is anemic, won't take iron supplements anymore. The taste is just terrible. He does, however, love cherry, so when I found these vitamins I was very excited and hopeful. Within a second after putting it in his mouth, he gagged. I thought he was playing around, so I popped one in my mouth, and immediately spit it out. The taste of these chewables is just horrendous. There's a very strong aftertaste, which I'm assuming comes from the higher amount of iron. It's so unpleasant, however, that it can't be overcome and therefore renders this purchase wasted for me.

Product 19 Cereal, 12-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)What is wrong with me? I ~love~ Product 19! Not because it is healthy (for cold cereal), but because it tastes great and keeps its crunch. How can Special K, which turns to mush on contact with milk, be so much more popular? How can it be that even some "fans" in these reviews take shots at the taste of Product 19? My love for this cereal may be slightly eccentric, but I do not rave about it from the perspective of especially favoring aggressively "natural" foods that are full of bran or whatever. True, I hate Wonder Bread and other foods that have been processed beyond all recognition. But I definitely do not favor twigs and berries. It seems to me that half the world is willing to give up brownies in favor of granola bars (I definitely am not), and yet people bash this great-tasting cereal as though it were cod liver oil. But I cry out to you from the wilderness! Give this stuff a try! It's delicious.
8/22/09 - Gosh...we seem almost like a cult, we fans of P19. I remember when it was introduced and believe its low sales were caused by marketing ineptness. It was perceived by the public to be a health food, similar to Special K, which was already well established. Kellogg's never did get around to promoting it for its great, hearty flavor and ability to stay crisp in milk.

Since my child is off formula (at 12 months), I want a multivitamin for her as well as a product with DHA. Dr. Greene's fits the bill. We put it in her Orange Juice in a sippy in the morning because it has a somewhat bitter taste. Sweetness of OJ masks it. Great product, my kid is thriving.

(More customer reviews)These are totally delicious, and also one of the few breakfast cereals without high fructose corn syrup (even All Bran has that). They are a bit sugary but not too sweet. Certainly filling and just what I like for breakfast, and so do my kids.
I'm not sure why Amazon isn't doing this on subscribe and save (at least when I'm writing this), but seeing as almost every grocery store I know of runs out of these on a fairly regular basis, probably worth getting from Amazon.

Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Cacao Power, Mayan Superfood, 16-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Hello Raw Cacao Lovers!
Here is the real truth about vitamin C (ascorbic acid) content in Raw Cacao:
Despite the trafficked reports circulating the internet, the honest truth remains: even when processed at low temperatures (i.e. "raw"), there is no vitamin C (ascorbic acid) present in cacao.
Recently, highly trafficked websites such as[...] have highlighted the misinformation of cacao's supposed vitamin C content. Included in these reports are claims that raw cacao is "extraordinarily high in vitamin C."
Back in 2004, our Navitas Naturals lab tests directly looked for vitamin C content in raw cacao, but came up negative. Despite these results, the current media blitz brought us back again for another round of lab testing of our best-selling raw cacao products (beans, nibs and powder) for vitamin C. This time, we used two different laboratories instead of one, and utilized three different analytical methods: High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Capilary Electrophoresis (CE) with UV detection, and Titration.
Though all three methods have their place in the scientific community, Titration is the most commonly used method in the food industry when determining vitamin C (ascorbic acid) content. However, there is a critical detail within the Titration method many companies miss when testing raw cacao. The method of Titration is unable to differentiate the vitamin C (ascorbic acid) from the vitamin's analogs. The result is what is known as a "false positive."
This is why, at Navitas Naturals, we use HPLC when testing raw cacao's vitamin C content. The HPLC method looks directly for vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and not just the analogs. Additionally, after sending samples of our products to another lab to test using the CE method, the reports returned consistent the HPLC results.
We have now also tested one of the largest raw cacao brands in the United States using the Titration and HPLC methods. And yet again the results confirm our previous conclusion that raw cacao has no vitamin C (ascorbic acid) present.
Cacao is a tremendously beneficial superfood, containing a wide spectrum of minerals and phytonutrients. It is important to be clear however, Vitamin C is not amongst these nutrients.Sincerely,Zach Adelman, President
Navitas Naturals

Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 51-Ounce Bottle Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have been using lots and lots of Bertolli Oil for long time. I use it only raw, so I can fully appreciate its flavor.
I was really pleased to see it here on Amazon, at a price that is slightly lower than in any local stores.

What a huge disappointment it was to see, upon delivery, that the bottle was cheap transparent plastic.
Decent quality extra virgin olive oil MUST be in glass bottles or at most cans (e.g. Carli oil has some big cans along with glass bottles), even better if dark glass, because light and oxygen deteriorate its quality very easily. You will never ever see a good quality oil is plastic bottles!! I am Italian and this is something that any Italian knows very well.
I could not believe that they ruined the Bertolli oil storing it in cheap plastic, and the taste reflect this poor storage. It does not nearly have the same rich taste as the oil that is stored in glass. I believe this is because it has been stored for too long in that worthless bottle. It expires in 1 year so probably it was bottled about 10 months ago.
This oil as it is in the plastic is really not worth the price, for the taste it has, you can find some better oils for lower price (while to me the Bertolli oil in glass bottles is UNBEATABLE for its rich taste, and I have tried many many oils).
This is why I am canceling my subscription and I am going back buying again the same oil in a local store that sells it in respectable glass bottles.
You can google "extra virgin olive oil plastic" and you'll find many results that advice to stay away from plastic bottles as oils absorb PVCs a lot, even at room temperature. This is unhealthy and strongly affects the taste of the oil.
