(More customer reviews)This particular brand, "Plantation", is the only molasses where only two tablespoons contains 20% of the RDA of Iron as well as Calcium. In molasses, the iron and calcium are in the form of sugars, which means they are more bio-available than any other form. I put it in hot water and the sweet-bitter flavor makes me think I'm drinking coffee. It is great at night, when I want coffee and do not want decaf. It is tricky to use in baking and not generally a substitute for other sweeteners because of the bitter part of the taste, but mixed with sugar or Splenda it is wonderful, though keep it out of coffee, because bitter and sweet are great flavors in combination, you can get too much bitter in one gulp. Try it along with another sweetener on cereal, in muffins, made into syrup and other ways your imagination may conceive. It is great stirred in milk, making it taste a lot like mocha but with enough ferrous gluconate and calcium to keep your bones strong and prevent/treat anemia.
